Asian American Trauma Therapist in San Diego
Mindy Le Tran, LMFT
Hello, I’m, Mindy Tran, LMFT, and I’m a Vietnamese American Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California (LMFT#144375) and Washington (LF61524527). I specialize in working with Asian American and BIPOC individuals and couples wanting to heal from past wounds and trauma and towards holistic wellness. My work is grounded in a systemic and somatic approach recognizing how the body, early experiences, relationships, culture, and broader social systems shape emotional well-being and relational dynamics.
I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples & partners, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, and trauma-informed yoga. I’m also a 500 hour certified yoga instructor. I use an innovative blending of psychotherapy with active (myofascial) and passive (restorative) yoga, to help clients learn how to process and heal from traumatic experiences more effectively and holistically
I believe that healing and transformation are possible when we incorporate the whole self, including the mind, body, and spirit. I integrate mindfulness exercises and body-inclusive movement as a way to practice grounding, soothe the nervous system, increase body awareness, and explore embodiment through sensation and movement.
I will teach you skills to manage difficult emotions, and mental health-related body sensations, like those associated with anxiety, depression and PTSD. I aim to make my work accessible and equitable to all races, genders, abilities, and identities through using inclusive language, offering a variety of therapeutic modalities and collaborating with and honoring my clients.
I am licensed to see clients in California and Washington.
I Specialize in Working With:
BIPOC Mental Health & Identity Exploration

Treatment Philosophy
As a child of immigrants, I understand the unique needs of fellow Asian Americans who struggle with mental health stigma, intergenerational and familial trauma, and communication. I help individuals and couples find ways to heal from past hurts weaving insights and wisdom from culture and become whole, healed, and the best versions of themselves.
Sometimes it can be really challenging to make time for ourselves and for our mental health. For some of us, it's even more difficult when our identities and culture held no space for our feelings or emotions. We may have had to put up with crossed boundaries, invalidated feelings, unrealistic expectations, and conditional love that depended on how much we have accomplished. Those difficult and maybe even traumatic experiences that we, and our families, have lived through may have been written off as "this is just how things are." Although we may want to rest and pause, we instead might begin to feel shame or guilt for doing so.
In my work with clients, I honor the past and present experiences that make you you. I will support you in finding growth, healing, and meaningful change in your life. My goal is to support your strengths, reprocess traumatic experiences, help you let go of what no longer serves you, and find ways to embody the values that mean the most to you.
